•    In its early stages, the program aims to provide the patient with motivation and encouragement to overcome addiction with what is known as motivational interviewing.
•    The policy of the treatment program does not rely on forcing the patient to stay at the centre for treatment, given that the policy of forceful retention may result in an adverse reaction from the patient, lack of acceptance of treatment, and refusal in seeking recovery. The patient has the freedom to complete the treatment program, but failure to fully adhere to this program may lead to delayed recovery or failure of treatment in some occasions.
•    The policy of the treatment program is based on the fact that the person has the ability to abstain from using narcotic substances and has the willingness to seek treatment and to create a new life. Thus, the program helps them modify cognitive and perceptual distortions, and that addiction is a disease that can be cured with determination and strong will.
•    Helping the family and the patient understand the treatment mechanisms, increasing awareness, and clarifying the role of the family in the recovery process.
